Application Process
1
Eligibility
Once logged into our grant database portal, select “Apply” at the top of the page. You will be prompted to take an eligibility quiz to ensure your request is directed to the appropriate foundation. The questions include the state of operation, the focus area, amount requested and whether or not the grant serves the Pierce County, WA area.
Access Code
An access code allows you to skip the eligibility section and go directly to a LOI and/or application. Access codes are only provided with pre-approval from foundation boards and are only valid one-time.
Proposals Ineligible for Funding
- Organizations that do not qualify as 501(c)3 tax-exempt under the Internal Revenue Code
- Annual funds, galas, or other special event fundraising activities
- Sectarian religious activities, political lobbying, or legislative activities
- Organizations that discriminate on the basis of age, race, national origin, ethnicity, gender, disability, political affiliation or religious belief

LOI (Letter of Inquiry)
Once the eligibility quiz has been completed, submitting a LOI to the appropriate foundation(s) via our grant portal is the next step in the application process. The LOI provides us with general information regarding your organization, the request for funding and whether or not the proposal aligns with our funding priorities.
There is no deadline for submitting a LOI. Our foundations board reviews the LOI’s on an ongoing basis, but we ask that you allow 12-16 weeks for a response. The response time can vary depending on the volume of requests, the timing of proposals and our foundations monthly and quarterly review schedules.
You will be notified via email either declining your request or inviting you to submit a full application.
3
Grant Application
Once your LOI has been approved, you will be notified via email to log back into our grant database and complete the application process. Your previous LOI answers will automatically transfer to the application form. Select “Edit Application” on your dashboard to finish the request requirements and submit the application.

Approved Grant Terms and Conditions
Once a grant is approved, you will be notified to log back into our grant database portal and complete our terms and conditions form.
Once the form is signed and submitted, we will then proceed with issuing an award letter and funds.

Grant Follow-up Requirements
Recipients of grants are required to submit a grant report via our grant database portal at six months and again at one year (if applicable) of receiving funds. Your organization’s contact will be notified of grant reports due dates via email. The grant reports that are due will be visible on your organizations dashboard in our grant database.
For capital campaigns, status updates should be submitted every 6 months until the campaign is completed. Additional reports can be mailed or emailed to our foundation office.
Failure to comply with these requirements will disqualify the organization for future grants.
